Address: Pukebergarnas väg, 38228 Nybro
Welcome to Pukebergs Glassworks a design center, situated in a beautifun environment just outside the center of Nybro.
Pukeberg is one of Sweden’s oldest and most well-preserved glassworks. Glass in a variety of different forms has been produced here since 1871, including household glassware, lamp glass and glass globes for petrol pumps as well as beautiful art glassware. You will experience how a glassworks looked at the turn of the century. Today the connection to form and design is stronger than ever. The design training for The University College of Kalmar is carried out here and in 2005 the Archives for Swedish Design moved into newly-renovated premises.
The glass studio is run today by master glassblower Micke Johansson who produces mainly art glassware from his own and other people’s designs. In addition to art glassware you can hunt bargains in the shop – everything from sixties’ classics like Göran Wärff’s Rustica to up and coming classics like Thomas Bernstrand’s Time. In Pukeberg’s small outlet you can also buy quality goods from Zwilling, Briscapo and others at prices that are 20-50% below the normal retail prices. In the evening at Pukeberg you may also enjoy the traditional hot shop herring.
